Christmas Hope

The dawn of Christmas morning and the hope of Jesus’ birth
Brings God and man face to face; Grace and Truth have come to earth
The winter of death is broken, and life soon buds on the tree
When God became a man and Jesus died for me

Brightly shines the light long promised, and consumes sin’s dark night
The sovereign God of mercy, has come to make things right
They can see the path of glory, to walk in works foreknown
The baby in the manger, the suffering Savior once He’s grown

The angels declare His glory: a child to us is born
The shepherds respond by going, a babe in a manger to see
Simeon receives the consolation and wise men seek the star
For sin will soon be vanquished, the LORD of Hosts You are

Who is this king of glory? Who is this Son of man?
Who is the One they worship, who suffers at God’s hand?
He is the Christ of Christmas, the lover of our soul
The ruler of the nations, the One who makes us whole

In the midst of all the bustle, and the wishes of good cheer
As you hurry through the season, and all meaning it seems is lost
The babe in your nativity and the star upon your tree
All point to the hope of Christmas: Jesus came to die for me

Giving loved ones tender mercy with presents beneath the tree
God has spoken to us simply, sin pardoned for you and me
That baby in the manger, how we celebrate His birth
For in it God makes this glorious statement: man’s soul now knows it’s worth
